2024 Spring Crew Info & Registration

Spring Crew Registration Day 2024:  Saturday, January 27, 2024, 10am to 12pm, at Panera Bread (4402 Fortuna Center PLaza, Dumfries VA 22025). See the Registration Checklist below for everything that will be required on Registration Day

**If you are not available during normal registration, please contact us so that we may work with
you directly. **

Spring Crew is our team’s on-water, competitive season.  For 2024, our season begins on
February 19, 2024 and ends mid May. We practice Monday thru Friday from 3:30PM – 6PM out
of the Oxford Boathouse in Lake Ridge Park. On select Saturdays, we compete in various state-
wide regattas. We encourage our rowers to row hard so their boats can qualify and compete in
the Virginia State Championship regattas and the Scholastic Rowing Assn. of America National
Championship regatta.                     Go Bruins!!

When are Try-Outs? What are the criteria?
Try-outs will be the week of February 12, 2024 at Forest Park High School. In order to
participate, you must have already turned in your blue card, VHSL physical form, and completed
concussion training. Contact the coaches if rowers have any concerns regarding try-outs.

Practice Times: Monday thru Friday when school is in session, 3:30PM – 6PM at the Oxford
Boathouse.
Practice Drop Off/Pick-Up Location: Lake Ridge Park, 12350 Cotton Mill Drive, Lake Ridge VA
near the playground. No vehicles from rowers or families are allowed down at the boathouse.

Cost: $425.00 (Additional fees may apply if paying through PayPal)

Boat Tip Test: There will be a mandatory safety exercise and boat flip at Colgan High School/PWCS Aquatics Center, 13833 Dumfries Rd, Door #25, Manassas, VA 20112 on Monday, February 19th at 9am. The 19th is a school holiday – President’s Day.  All rowers are to report to the Colgan pool dressed in their practice clothing by 8:50am. 

Spring Crew Registration Checklist 

  1. Complete Online Insurance Waiver fee via US Rowing
  2. Complete Online Registration (Regatta Central)
  3. FP Crew Handbook (Sign and turn in last page)
  4. Blue Card (Pick up from outside AD Student Activities Office)
  5. Virginia High School League (VHSL) physical form “Revised February 2017“
  6. Online Concussion Training
  7. Swim Test
  8. Field Trip Permission Slip
  9. Spring Crew Payment $ 425 (Check or Payment Plan for those enrolled)
  10. Order the uniform.

1. Complete Online Insurance Waiver fee via US Rowing
For Spring Crew, every Rower must have a valid US Rowing waiver so they can compete in
regattas. US Rowing memberships are renewed, and waivers are signed once every 12-month
period.
All US Rowing membership activities will be completed through US Rowing Membership Portal.
(membership.usrowing.org)

Membership/Waiver:  Athletes will work on the ‘Individuals’ side of the portal.  If this is your first
US Rowing membership, select “JOIN”. You will need to set a password.  This membership
must be in the rower’s name, not the parent’s name.

If you already have a US Rowing membership number and password, log in by clicking
‘Members’. Once you are logged in, you will be able to sign your waiver. Please do not pay.
These fees will be paid for all Prince William County Rowers through the county. You must add
PWCA to the list of clubs that you are associated with. Their club code is WWXB9.
If this is your first time in Forest Park Crew, you will need to enter the club code when prompted,
XDJQP, so you appear on the coach’s roster for Forest Park Crew.

2. Complete Online Registration (Regatta Central)
This year, while registration for Spring Crew will be through the Regatta Central website,
payment will be collected through Check on Registration Day or by PayPal on this website (See
#9 Payment).  

1. Go to the Regatta Central website at:  www.regattacentral.com.

2. Find Forest Park Crew under the Clubs section at the top of the page.

3. Choose “FPHS SPRING CREW.”

4. Click on the “Join/Renew” button for your selection.

If you have registered on the Regatta Central website before, enter your rower’s username and password (use the Forgot your Username/Password links, if needed).
If your rower will be a first-time participant and you don’t have a Regatta Central account, fill in the New Users block on the right (with a parent’s email and name) and register as indicated.  The parent email address that you enter here is the email address that your registration receipt will be sent to.

5. Select your rower’s name from the “Participant” pull down on the top left of the registration site you will be taken to.  For first time participants, please click the “New Participant” link in blue then enter the requested information.

6. Click Next, when you are done adding participant.  Proceed through your account holder information screen. Click NEXT to get to payment page.

***ON REGATTA CENTRAL, please mark “Pay by Check.”***

7. Once you have completed that registration, please return to this page to complete your payment here or pay by check at Spring Registration Day.

3. FP Crew Handbook
Download the Forest Park Crew Handbook here. Sign the final page and bring it to Spring
Registration Day.

4. BLUE CARD
Please complete an emergency contact “Blue Card;” it is available outside door of AD/Student
Activities office;

Complete front & back by both the athlete and the Parent/Guardian. Write FP Crew on top corner of Blue Card. A new Blue Card must be completed for Spring Crew, regardless of if the
rower participated in Fall Conditioning.

5. VIRGINIA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE (VHSL) PHYSICAL FORM  “Revised February 2017”
For rowers who did not participate in PWC school sport this school year or did not provide us
with a current Virginia High School League physical form.  This is the only form that will be
accepted and must bear your medical provider’s signature and dated after May 1st to be valid.

6. Online CONCUSSION TRAINING
All students participating in Crew must login and complete the on-line concussion training with
their parent / guardian.  This can only be done during after school hours.  Once completed, both
the parent / guardian and student must sign the certificate.  The on-line concussion training can

7. Swim Test Form
All Rowers need to have a completed Swim Test Form on file with FP Crew. Click to

8. Field Trip Permission Slip

All Rowers must have a signed permission slip on file to attend practice and regattas.  Field Trip Form

9. PAYMENT
Option 1. Pay by Check. Checks will be collected at Spring Registration Day
Option 2. Pay Online. Use the QR Code below to pay for Spring Crew.
Spring Crew Full Payment $425.00 (+PayPal fee).  Please include your Rower’s Name

10. Order the Uniform
For 2024 there is a new uniform style so EVERYONE must order a new uniform and you MUST get your order in by the end of the day on January 29th!

The only requirement is the Uniform. A Unsuit or a Tank and Trou. If you already have bottoms you want to use, you may do so. The splash jacket is optional but highly recommended. Most kids add two inches to the length to help keep their seat dry.
