Boat Flip Safety Exercise

 

For all students registered for the 2026 FP Crew Spring Season we will be holding a mandatory safety exercise and boat flip at Colgan High School/PWCS Aquatics Center, 13833 Dumfries Rd, Door #25, Manassas, VA 20112 on Monday, February 16th at 9am. The 16th is a school holiday – President’s Day.  All rowers are to report to the Colgan pool dressed in their practice clothing by 8:50am.  

 

 

For boat flip, wear close-fitting clothing, bring a towel and a change of dry clothes for after completion.  Rowers should check in at 8:50am.  They will be sent down to the pool deck in groups of 5 to complete the boat flip exercise at the pool.  The exercise consists of:

 

• Boat flip
• Treading water for 2 minutes
• Donning a life jacket while in the water.
• Then swimming 100 meters (any stroke)

 

The exercise will be conducted in the Colgan High School indoor pool with the coaching staff supervising the activity.  This is a very important safety exercise and should not be missed.

 

Attached is a waiver that needs to be signed and brought with you to the boat flip exercise.  Forest Park Crew Boat Flip Permission Slip
